How to Select the Right Cooking-Utensils
Selecting the right cooking-utensils for your cooking project is basically knowing what’s needed for a particular dish. Usually what I like to do is lay out the necessary utensils before starting the recipe. For example, When I make hot water corn bread, I make sure I have all cooking supplies and ingredients visible before I start so that I wouldn’t have to stop and locate them while cooking.
Always choose utensils that are best suited for the job. By knowing what you’re planning to cook, you’ll be able to select the appropriate utensils that will make preparing food more enjoyable. For example, there are plastic and metal spatulas on the market. However, when frying food, you need to select a metal spatula instead of plastic.

1 Sifter
1 large Mixing Bowl
1 Tablespoon
1 large Skillet
1 large Whisk
1 Metal Spatula
1 Pot Holder
The above list is used to make my hot water corn bread. I don’t use measuring cups for this recipe so I wouldn’t need to include it with the list. However, if measuring cups and other utensils are required, don’t forget to include them.
These are just a few examples of cooking supplies that are needed in the kitchen. Each list will vary depending of what you’re making. Always make a good list beforehand so you won’t forget anything. Don’t wait until the day you’re preparing the food to gather your cooking supplies. By planning ahead, you’ll discover how easy your cooking projects will be.
When I owned a catering service a few years ago, planning and organizing were key to providing great catering services. But, before I started preparing for a catering job, I always gathered all needed supplies. So when I started, there wouldn’t be any hold backs or delays.
Being organized in the kitchen is well worth the effort. You’re be amazed at how much better your food will turn out just by gathering your supplies ahead of time.
And, you’re love how much time you’ll save.
